Valspar recently unveiled its latest four color trends: Water Color Impressions, Retro Retreat, Vintage Romance and Peaceful Ambiance. These palettes were developed with what is going on in the world at large. They are put together so that people can either use them as a whole or pick and choose colors, using them as inspiration to develop their own palette. We will be taking a look at each of them one at a time...
The first one: Is Water Color Impressions.
Watercolor Impressions:
We’ll be seeing a lot more blues in the upcoming year. Blue is the new green as the world turns towards water as its focus. Water cleans, purifies and sustains life.
Fluid and clean, these water inspired colors will freshen up your space and breathe new life into a tired room. Because these colors are cool, they expand the space and open it up. I’ve been working with one particular client who felt her home was too cramped and drab. I showed her this palette and she lit up. We got to work mapping out her home. We started with Halcyon Blue for the entry. She has deep stained wood floors so this gave a beautiful airy but grounded feel when you enter. From there, we put Breezy in the living room. We put black and white family photos on the walls that were framed out in a deep stained wood that tied in nicely with the entry floor. On the floor, we put a light camel wool rug with soft beige upholstered furniture. We added pop by placing orange and rust throw pillows throughout.
For the dining room, we went off the map and with Mark Twain House Tan. This carried the caramel up onto the walls and gave the house one warm space. We put light blue/green and ivory fabric on the chairs and window treatments. For the kitchen, we used Limonata for the walls with crisp white cabinets and tile. We put a warm toned stone on the countertops. We trimmed everything in Ultra White which is Valspar’s purist white. The whole effect was light, fresh and clean. You can’t help but smile when walking through the space.
