I recently spent a few rainy days in Paris being inspired by the subtle shades of the doors of small glittering cafés and the grand entrances of little palaces.
Gray skies have a way of bringing out what I call “indecisive” colors, revealing their depth and beauty in muted weather.

These subdued and delicate colors are emphasized by the soft palettes of the typical sandstone walls.

Sometimes antique and new join to create a sharp, edgy and elegant effect.

Michele: I love your categories, esp. the "indecisive colors"! Wonderful way to translate those rainy day colors. I do think the doors of Paris, and really anywhere in France, are so unique...and inspiring. When you compare them to the doors here in the U.S....well, there IS no comparison. Thanks for this!
