I recently visited amazing Niagara Falls. The colors I found there are not what I would have expected! Warm browns and teals with springtime's bold yellows! Here are some palettes I developed from these surprisingly bold and beautiful colors!

I recently spent a few rainy days in Paris being inspired by the subtle shades of the doors of small glittering cafés and the grand entrances of little palaces.

April’s birthstone is one of the most popular gems of all time--the diamond. In many cultures, diamonds are linked to strength, for they are known as the hardest substance on earth.
Diamonds have also come to symbolize everlasting love and eternity.

Dear Beehive,
I want...NEED...to paint the exterior of my house. It has not been painted since it was built 8 years ago (with very cheap paint that has turned to chalk.) Almost my entire neighborhood it tan or beige, but I would like to go more tropical to fit the style of the home. I'm thinking a turquoise or aqua. Any suggestions?
Best,
Irene S., Tarpon Springs, FL

Hi Beehive!
We just bought our first home and it is painted brown. We want it to
remain light brown or sand in the main rooms (Florida open floor plan)
and paint the dining room a cool, lighter blue. My dilemma is that I have no idea what a
good choice is without going too dark or too light. Do you have any ideas on a sand/brown warm for the entry way and family room/kitchen and a
blue that will complement the dining room? I'd be grateful for any
suggestions.
Best wishes,
Liz P., Valrico, FL

There is no avoiding rain in April – it's just part of the landscape. While April showers may be a nuisance, they can also be very inspirational; the liquid colors of rain work particularly well in bathrooms. Balance misty hues with sunshine-esque pops of color.

Since Easter is around the corner and pastel colors are everywhere this time of the year, I would like to share my love of these colors. When people think pastels they think nurseries or children’s rooms, but I think pastel colors are well suited for any area of the home. And no, they are not only for the incurable “romantics”, they also can have a very modern appeal or even a rustic feel! Here are some rooms which I hope will inspire you with their soothing appeal.

Q: Dear Ann,
My master bath is a lilac mist, almost a looks like pale blue depending on the light. My master bedroom is painted in a deep burgundy, almost brown shade and I would like to lighten it up with a color that will blend or complement the bathroom. What are my best choices?
Best,
Kim E., Medina, OH
